Nod

It was nice to see my favourite film of 2006, The Lives of Others, (Das Leben der Anderen) get a Golden Globe nod for Best Foreign Language Film last night, even if it did lose out to Clint Eastwood's heralded Letters From Iwo Jima. The Lives of Others is also Germany's official submission (each foreign country only gets one) to the Oscar's this year, but those nominations haven't been released yet.

The Lives of Others will have a limited North American theatrical release starting February 9th in Los Angeles and New York. The website is much improved since I last posted on this film, and it even has a decent trailer. Check it out, and if it comes to a theatre near you, go see it. Or don't, but it is one of the few films that I can heartily recommend.
*Update: The Academy Award nominations are published; The Lives of Others makes the list.
