Sons and Fathers
Bevan has been hard at work story-boarding and scouting locations with our producer, Frank Zappia, (40 Below Films), in preparation for the spring 2004 production of my short script "Sons and Fathers."
Bevan commissioned me to write the script last winter. It's based on a short story I wrote a couple of years ago called "Father and Son Camp" in which a young boy convinces his black-sheep father to attend the annual community church father and son retreat on Lake Winnipeg.
Adapting my own short story was unique to my experience as a screenwriter thus far, and working with the director and producer from the outset proved to be educational, a lesson in objectivity.
